Shoes

Hi, need your advise.

I am from Singapore. This is my 1st time visiting Korea, during winter season.

1. Is it advisable to wear track shoes during winter? (wish to keep expenses to min)

2. Must we wear down jacket as outer layer? (was advised thatit is a must)

3. What type of ';long john'; is advisable? (was advised that we should get 100% wool)

Thank You

korea can get pretty chilly during the winter season. snow will most probably come your way. 100% wool long johns is a wise choice and a jacket is advisable. I don%26#39;t know about the track shoes since you haven%26#39;t posted about what your itinerary is. Depending on what terrain you%26#39;ll be on, I%26#39;d match your shoes accordingly.

14. Shinchon Fashion Street

Can I also seek your advise;

As most meals are provided (I only need to settle 2 Lunch %26amp; 1 Dinner), for 5 pax. Approximately how much should I be bringing? Should I be bringing USD or Korean Won?

Your advise is appreciated. Thank You.

Which month are you traveling? Late December to February, Korea is downright cold with many day go below 0C, if not -10C in mountain region. My advice is you when you first arrive in Korea, head to local market and get Korean innerwears(naebok) which is fairly lightweight but very warm. Track shoes is OK, but make sure it is snow proof, I wouldn%26#39;t want wear wet sneakers when I walk on snow covered road. Jeju Island is usually warmer than Seoul, but both places are very windy so pack woolen scarves and globes. Don%26#39;t get cold.

I will be visiting Korea during 1st week of Jan 09.

An ignorant question from me;

How can I tell whether the track shoe is snow-proof?

Thanks

Why don%26#39;t you ask that question to your local sport/footwears shop clerk? When I bought my hiking shoes, I was advised by sales clerk to buy certain shoes that are waterproof. I think there is a spray that helps to prevent water leaking into shoes...

Yup, will do so. Thanks

A track shoe, or athletic shoe is fine as long as you have warm socks. Bring some thick wool socks along with your cottons. In the morning you can decide what to wear. If you%26#39;ll be walking around all day outside in Sorak you%26#39;ll want to wear at least one pair of wool socks, possibly two if it%26#39;s very cold out.

Wearing a pair of wool socks over a pair of thin cotton socks or pantyhose is a good way to stay warm and it also provides a comfortable cushion for your soles.
