Hello:
I travel to Seoul often for work, but usually have very little time to tour.
In a couple of weeks, I have a Saturday flight leaving Incheon at 2:45pm.
Does anyone know of any tours to the DMZ that go very early in the morning and can have me back to Seoul by Noon?
Or is there any way to finish the tour and head straight to the ICN from the DMZ? Where would I put my bags?
Or are there early mornig tours from ICN?
I looked thorught the forums. There is alot written about the DMZ tours, but I could not find anyting taht matched what I need. If there is a similar post, I apoligize.
DMZ tour early in the AMI don%26#39;t think you can make the tour and return to Incheon via Seoul city by midday for your 2pm outbound flight. The tours must be booked in advance with a copy of your passport first page and personal details so you would need to contact the appropriate organisers in advance. I went on an excellent full day 3rd tunnel and Panmunjeom combined tour in April, 08 the cost was 110,000w. The only undesirable segment was the mediocre traditional lunch - avoid it if you can, I am sure you will have sampled fine Korean food already.
I booked through a local travel agent but it seems to me that the organising body for all the tours the travel agents offer is the DMZ Service Club in Lotte Hotel building which is also the departure point. It would be preferable to book directly with them.
Foreiners who have resided in Seoul for many years have told me the tour organised by the United Services Organisation is by far the best - all inclusive, they visit more sites and its cheaper. The USO Seoul doesn%26#39;t seem to keep their website current, you need to telephone them next time you are in Seoul.
Suggest you do a bit of website research yourself - I typed in panmunjeom tours in Google and there is a huge directory of info. The first in the directory is the official site of .... it has the phone numbers of several organisations involved in Panmunjeom tours including the USO. I think the most interesting sites are the third tunnel and the JSA (Joint Security Area) which is on/next to the area that was Panmunjeom village before it was totally destroyed in the korean War.
Hope you make the trip sometime, it is most worthwhile and thought provoking. Harbiye.
DMZ tour early in the AMI%26#39;m sorry if this is too late for your visit to South Korea but I thought I would post this info just in case. Incheon Airport offers stop over tours from the airport itself. I don%26#39;t believe they can get you to and from the DMZ in the time you have specified but you might want to look at the other tours and see if there is something else that you are interested in. PS I am a Canadian living and teaching in South Korea
