I will be on a group tour to Korea+Jeju (during winter) for 8days, 5pax.
Most meals are provided, however, I need to settle 2 lunch and 1 dinner myself.
Can someone advise me roughly how much currency I should be bringing? Should I bring USD or Korean Won?
Or both currencies?
Your advise is greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
How much currency to bring?
Depending on where you will be having your meals. Meals at foodcourt is between KRW4,000 to KRW6,000 and basic restaurants can be between KRW5,000 to KRW9,000. Korean Won is widely used around Korea but if you are taken to shops by your guide, they take USD, Credit Card or Won. I just got back from a tour as well and I find that they do stop for you to try local snacks and souvenir shopping outside restaurants. So, taking extra WON won%26#39;t harm. Take SGD with you as well and you can change them with your guide or at the nearest bank.
How much currency to bring?
Thanks for the advise.
The meals I need settle are (wrote wrongly as 2L 1D);
Breakfast @ Airport
Lunch @ Everland
Dinner @ Lotte
I guess I better heed your advise and bring more WOn than USD.
Thanks
For breakfast, don%26#39;t forget to try the Bon Bibimbap at the airport when you arrived. Lunch in Everland is chaotic, Qs are long but lots of varieties. You must try their Churros (a type of korean snack)and lastly, dinner is probably at Lotte World which is an indoor and outdoor theme parks. Lots of food to explore. Very cheap too. Your itinerary sounds like mine. Have fun in Korea.
I also recommend Samsung COEX mall foodcourt and numerous traditional Korean restaurants and tea cafes on back streets of Insadong. I loved flower tea (around 4000won) I had in Insadong! They also serve free Korean pastries along with it
I advise you to bring 300 US dollars and a credit card. You can exchange the US dollars to Korean won in the city of Seoul, not at the airport. there are many exchange places throughout the city. Most places will want you to pay in Korean won.
