We have an 11 hour layover in Seoul. We arrive 530am and depart 430pm. We%26#39;d like to leave the airport, stretch our legs, check out the city and get some food. I have been traveling and unable to do much research about how to spend this time hence I%26#39;m hoping someone can offer up some quick suggestions. Is the airport close to anything? Could we hire a driver or take a taxi somewhere to walk around? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
11 hours in Seoul...
Incheon airport is approximately 90 mins from Seoul City via express bus (There is a talk of construction going on, connecting train to Seoul metro line, but I haven%26#39;t heard of its completion yet). Check out guided transit tours offered from airport here, …visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_5_1.jsp
If guided tours isn%26#39;t for you then I suggest that you take express limousine bus to city center (city hall area), there is palace (Deoksugung) right across from city hall, or you can take quick subway stop for popular shopping districts such as Myeong-dong or traditional Namdaemoon market or for fashion bargain at Dongdaemoon market. I also recommend Insa-dong area for cafes and restaurants and traditional Korean art and antiques galleries.

11 hours in Seoul...
We did this same layover last year and acutally got to see quite a bit! We took the city buses outside the airport into the city in the morning. Most things were still closed that early in the morning but we walked around a bit and ate at food vendors. Then we took a city tour that took off from downtown where you can get on and off, but we stayed on almost the whole loop, only getting off near the end to tour one of the palaces. There are also museums at the city center and good browsing, eating, and people watching at Insadong. Then took and airport bus back to terminal. By the way, you can store your luggage at the airport while sightsee, but I think the storage area doesn%26#39;t open until 6 or so, so you%26#39;ll have to hang around the airport a bit.
