Palaces in seoul
Hi --
Why not all four? It would only take you an afternoon since they are all near the city center. 4 minute walk from 3 to 2. Personally, I have a special place for Deuksong -- my wife and I were married there and it is by far the most colorful palace complex here. However, don%26#39;t miss the others. They are all very special -- Piwon or secret garden at Changyeon is cool too....
Being from Singapore you might enjoy Namdaemun or Tongdaemun or both, rather. Good market stuff. Subway will get you there easily. Enjoy. BTW are you going F%26amp;E?
Palaces in seoul
Hi seasmoke,
Thanks for ur reply, I will be following a guided tour to jeju 3 days, Nami island and Mt sorak. An F%26amp;E in seoul for 3 days.. i Will sure to visit all 4 if time allows.
As for Namdaemun or Tongdaemun.. its in my plan.. haha.. and since u recommend also.. thanks.
Bear in mnid that Changdokkung is ';tours only';, and only certain are in English. They are timed- I know there%26#39;s one at 11. Each tour takes well over 90 mins.
Personally I%26#39;d only do at most 2; say this one and Deoksugung.
Perhaps Namsan folk village too?
Also depends where you%26#39;re staying; there are temples and other sites all over the city. Maybe there%26#39;s one near your hotel.
Just a note. Namdaemun was burned down by arson recently. A sad story...

Yes. The ancient gate at Namdaemun unfortunately burned, but the Namdaemun Market is, of course, alive and well...
Hi all,
Feel quite sad that i am not able to see Namdaemun.. To me it seems to be a sort of icon in seoul.. Hopefully the next trip(Hope to visit again in autumn)
I will be able to take photo beside Namdaemun.. keke..
Thanks for the info..
My favorite is Deoksugung Palace because they have a museium and is the place where they signed the ';cease fire';. Last time I was there you could roam freely but lately at a lot of the places they have been making you go on escourted tours but Im not sure if that is the case here. Also while in Seoul it is sad of the demise of Namdaemun or ';South Gate'; but there is a lot to see in Seoul and a lot of fun and shopping to be had..
Hi,
Could you care to share where you book your tour for jeju and mount sorak? Is it from local tour, how much will it cost?
Hi, I would also like to know where you book your guided tour to Jeju and F%26amp;E in Seoul. I can%26#39;t find this package in the internet. How much is it? If you don%26#39;t mind sharing, it would be great.
Hi! was wondering if you have made your trip. I%26#39;m planning mine in Sept/Oct.
Which palace is good? I am looking for 1 that is well preserved, complete with internal furnishings and decor. My friend mentioned that Changdeokgung is pretty empty, so was not keen to go, but after reading all the desc on the internet, was not so sure now..
tks
