We are travelling in early November %26amp; will arrive into Seoul %26amp; leave from Tokyo about 3 weeks later, would appreciate any feedback or advice on places to go (there seem to be so many!) in South before we get on the ferry for Osaka from Busan. Focus on culture/temple, food, people - not nightclubs/shopping.
Korea to Japan
How long are you planning to Stay in South Korea? If you are staying for about 1 week, you may able to visit popular sites (Namsan Tower, Hanok village, Insadong, Kyongbokgoong palace, Changdukgoog palace and it%26#39;s garden, biwon, and Namdaemoon and Dongdaemoon markets) in Seoul, few day trips around Seoul (DMZ Tour, Folk Village) and Gyeongju (…visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_1_1_1.jsp…) which I highly recommend since you are interested in culture and temples.
If you have more time, I recommend you visit Haeinsa temple(…visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_6.jsp…) near Daegu. Not only the temple itself but surrounding area is really beautiful, and you may able to see beautiful autumn foliage.
Korea to Japan
Seoul has lots of places to go and see: Namsan Hanok Village (Korean traditional houses), Palaces such as Gyeongbok-gung or Changdeok-gung (UNESCO Heritage), and Insa-dong (antique street), ets.
If you are intersted in Culture/temple, I recommend Gyeongju City (close to Busan) taking 5 hous by train from Seoul, or 3.5 hours by KTX (express) with transition. It%26#39;s been known for 1000 years capital city in Korea. It has lots of cutural places and food. This is my favorite city.

In early November, you may see beautiful maple trees.
Hope you enjoy your stay in Korea.
