We are a family of 4 with an adopted son who will be 16 when we travel to Korea next summer. Most people that we know have taken tours to Korea that arrange both cultural and adoption topics. We are not tour people ususally and consider ourselves pretty good travelers, but we are wondering about missing out on some things by traveling on our own. From the states can you easily arrange things with the agencies and cultural tours of palaces/temples/dmz? Most of the tours travel in June and early July and later in July will work better for our family. Is the weather really that different as August approaches? When is the cutoff for all the locals to travel as well, end of July or in August? We are trying to make this trip memorable for our son who may want to try and meet up with birth family as well, I don%26#39;t want to blow it.
Thanks
Ellen

The weather is not that different in August then in July. Tour groups usually occur in June and early July as that is the low-time of the summer for airfare. Late May, early June as well as late July, early August is peak travel time so to speak for locals (usually students, family members with kid alligning their vacation with summer break) since that is when people are travelling to and from Korea from other countries.
I can%26#39;t speak to arranging things from the stateside since I have always done that while in Korea, but if you are good travelers, then I think you should be fine. However, that would also depend on where in Korea you are traveling to, wish to visit, as well as your Korean language skills . There are probaby more places in Korea where English is not spoken/widely understood then there are like Seoul.
Hope you guys have a wonderful time. Here is a link to the Korea tourism site.
