I was thinking of taking a short (5-7 days?) year end break with my girlfriend in Seoul.
The idea is the shop a bit, see a bit of snow (hotspring maybe), have a bit of fun at the amusement parks, and take a break.
Is the period between Christmas and New Year a good time to come? Would shops and establishments be closed for the holidays?
Year End HolidaysKoreans celebrate Christmas big time, so it%26#39;s good idea to book your hotel ASAP. Especially ski resort since you are interested in snow/hot spring, many Koreans love to go skiing/snow boarding during their holidays. You can find many info about ski/hot spring resorts in this forum easily.
If you are in Seoul, you can shop and see beautiful Christmas decoration around Myeong-dong area. Also do check out many underground shopping arcades, which is great way to to take break from bitter December weather. You can also sample many hot street snacks all over the city. (yumm. I really miss that green tea flavored dough with red bean stuffed pancake!) If you are lucky and it snows while you are there, I would go park or palaces since snow there are more pristine than say busy city streets.
Year End HolidaysIf I were to come for 7 days, and divide my time between seoul city and say a hot spring / ski resort, does this make sense?
Which are good (reasonable priced and easy access) hot spring / ski resorts and how does one get there? Are they in the same place (I mean ski and springs)?
