Mt. Seorak National Park

I am planning a trip to Seoul end Nov - early Dec. Would like to check .. is it too cold to visit Mt Seorak? Also bringing 2 kids along and wondering if it is worthwhile to travel 4hrs there and back.

Appreciate some advice!! Thanks.

The weather is very cold then and especially in Gangwon-do where Mt.Seorak is sited. However if it snows, it would be o.k.to enjoy winter mood. You can also easily see the beautiful snow view in the Gwongeumsung by cable car if you do not want to walk into the mountain.

Are you planning to visit Seorok only or combine spa and ski trip nearby? I recommend the latter.

Thanks for the response.

Initially we are contemplating whether we should have a day trip from Seoul to Mt Seorak or going Mt Seorak after the ski trip. With your advice, it is probably better and easier to combine with our ski trip.

By the way, can your share more on the combine spa? Is that the hot spring? Is it a worthwhile trip?

The nearest spa in the area of Mr.Seorak is in Hanhwa Resort - called Seorak Waterpia. You could enjoy spa in the resort after hiking or vice versa.

The other option is combination of ski trip and hiking. Yongpyong resort is the nearest one from Mr.Seorak and it takes about 1 hour. Recently Yongpyong built a new water park in the ski resort(Peak Island), so you could enjoy both skiing and spa in one place. However I do not have any idea about transportation from Yongpyong to Mr.Seorak and the opposite, as there is no shuttle bus in between. If you rent a car, it would not be a problem. Visit the website of Yongpyong at

Just to check, I will be in Seoul from 15 - 22 Nov. Will there be snow or too early.

If I plan to go MT Seorak should I stay 1 night or just take a day trip from Seoul and back.

Thanks

Hi, am thinking of hiking at Mt Seorak when I visit Korea early Dec (before 10 DEc) and I wonder if it is safe to do so? Will Mt Seorak close for winter? or is there any places/ hiking routes close during the Dec period? Will it be dangerous? Bascially my friend and I (2 female) will be hiking on our own and gg there by ourselves too.

Would appreciate if anyone can help.
